Eligibility and Participation

Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grader registered in Maryville City Schools is eligible to participate. However we will need proof of a completed physical (within the calendar year), a completed “Emergency Medical Form”, Cardiac Arrest Form, signed Concussion Form, and a $75 non-refundable participation fee. The fee is to help cover costs of 4 – 5 bus trips, team registration fees at the meets, and replacement expenses (uniforms, team equipment, etc.). Each athlete will be loaned a uniform (for the duration of the season) to wear at the meets. We will be following the TMSAA Track and Field Guidelines.

Practice Information:

Starting February 18th, practices will occur every evening from 3:30-“4:45ish” (no practice should go beyond 5:00). The season ends at the date of the state meet (if you qualify) on Sat., May 16th. During inclement weather, we will practice indoors. Very rarely are practices canceled.  If you are unable to attend a practice please notify your position coach. We often practice and compete in cold weather. Dress accordingly.

Meet Information:

The travel team (top athletes / this can change from meet to meet based on times and measurements) will be taking a bus only to meets outside of Blount County. Athletes must find their own ride to meets inside of Blount County.  If not riding a bus, everyone needs to be at the meet by 4:15. Please bring your own water. If a meet is canceled due to inclement weather, it will be immediately posted through Remind.com / Meet Schedule TBA

**********NOTIFICATIONS*********

All notifications (postponements, cancellations, general information) will be sent out through Remind.com. There is no need to contact any of your coaches to find out if something has been cancelled. As soon as a decision has been made, we will send out a notification. Make sure you are registered for the notifications!!

Order of Events

Field Events (Long Jump, High Jump, Discus, & Shot Put) Start:  4:35pm, 4:30pm Check in

  1. 100m Hurdles   
  2. 100m
  3. 4 x 200m relay  
  4. 1600m open / Unlimited 
  5. 4 x 100m
  6. 400m
  7. 800m   
  8. 200m
  9. 4 x 400m relay (last event of the meet)

Each event will take place immediately one after another. The field events will start at 4:30 and take place at the same time as the running events. All track athletes are welcome to stay for the entire meet, however, they may leave once their assigned events are over as long as they check in with their position coach.
